Twitter Launched a New Search Homepage Today

Twitter Launched a new search homepage today: http://twitter.com/.  This new function makes it easy for people without Twitter accounts to interact with the site.  In addition, it is a great segue for a reluctant Tweeter to create an account.  In a way, it is the reverse of Google, which first released a search engine, available to all and then years later released Gmail adding the personal touch.

One major difference is that in order to create content available in Twitter search, you need less of a degree of technical acumen.  Of course this will probably change over time, assuming Twitter continues to increase in popularity.  People will learn more complex methods of manipulating the Twitter algorithm for marketing purposes as some SEO’s do with Google’s algorithm.

Twitter’s unique search niche is that it browses micro blog posts that every day people post. Their major problem will likely be spam. Too many comments containing the keywords, and of course people trying to manipulate the algorithm.
